Why Source from OSENC

We Control the Finished Magnetic Component

Finished Dimensions After Plating

We inspect critical dimensions on the finished zinc-coated part, so coating build-up is included in assembly fit.

1-Piece Sample Validation

Start with one custom sample, lock the approved specification, then move into pilot and production quantities.

Magnet + Coating Reviewed Together

We review grade, geometry, magnetization, zinc finish, temperature and service environment as one component.

Drawing-Controlled Production

Dimensions, tolerances, magnetization, finish and inspection requirements are locked before production starts.

Finished-Dimension Control

We Inspect the Magnet After Plating

Assembly fit is determined by the finished part, so OSENC controls critical dimensions after zinc plating. This matters most on thin discs, small blocks, rings, holes and tight mating features where coating build-up can consume assembly clearance.

Uso ±0.10 mm as the standard RFQ tolerance reference and ±0.05 mm as the precision RFQ reference. We lock the final tolerance against geometry, coating system and inspection method before production.

Where OSENC Specifies Zinc Coating

OSENC specifies zinc coated NdFeB for engineering components, electronics, furniture fittings, retail displays, packaging, fixtures, model assemblies and general manufacturing where thin metallic protection and dimensional control match the operating environment.

For permanent immersion, marine exposure, aggressive chemicals, repeated abrasion or magnet-to-magnet impact, OSENC moves the project to a higher-protection coating system or encapsulated construction.
Coating Comparison

Zinc vs. Ni-Cu-Ni vs. Epoxy

RivestimentoWhy We Specify ItMain Engineering Check
ZincoThin metallic finish with lower coating build-up; standard RFQ reference 7–15 μmGeneral industrial environment, finish/passivation and assembly clearance
Ni-Cu-NiCommon multilayer metallic protection with a thicker total stack than standard zincCorrosion requirement, surface contact and tight dimensional fits
Resina epossidicaPolymer barrier when moisture or corrosive-fluid protection is a stronger design priorityScratching, edge damage, impact and finished dimensions
Zinc ChromateSeparate zinc-based surface system with a 15–30 μm RFQ thickness referenceExact passivation callout and restricted-substance requirements

OSENC guarantees corrosion-test performance only when the PO defines the test method, sample condition, duration and pass/fail criteria. We do not convert an industry benchmark into a batch guarantee.

Temperature & Grade

We Set Temperature by NdFeB Grade

For standard zinc-coated N42 projects, 80°C continuous is the design limit. Zinc plating does not raise the magnetic material's temperature capability. We select the correct temperature-grade NdFeB when the application runs hotter.

Grade FamilyDesign ReferenceOSENC Selection Direction
N80°CStandard-temperature applications
M100 °CModerately elevated temperature
H120 °CHigher-temperature design
SH150 °CHigh-temperature custom project
UH180 °CSpecial high-temperature project
EH200 °CSpecial high-temperature project

We confirm the final grade against magnet geometry, magnetic circuit and operating point. The coating never overrides the magnetic material limit.

Controllo qualità

What OSENC Controls Before Shipment

Coating & Surface

We inspect visual integrity and coating condition against the approved finish. When thickness is controlled, XRF is the primary non-destructive production reference method.

Magnetizzazione

We verify magnetization direction and pole orientation against the approved drawing or sample before packing.

Compliance Documentation

OSENC provides available RoHS, REACH and SVHC documentation against the approved material and coating specification when required. Cr6+ status is confirmed separately against the selected passivation chemistry and supporting documentation.

For new custom parts, sampling locks dimensional fit, zinc appearance, magnetization and any corrosion or adhesion acceptance requirement before production. We do not turn an industry benchmark into a batch guarantee.

Quotation Factors

What Determines the Price of a Custom Zinc Coated Magnet?

OSENC quotes the finished magnetic component against the complete drawing and inspection requirement, not by magnet weight alone.

Magnet Design

Dimensions, material volume, NdFeB grade, geometry and machining complexity set the base manufacturing cost.

Finish & Tolerance

Zinc finish, passivation, finished tolerance and tight assembly features determine coating and inspection complexity.

Validation & Quantity

Magnetization pattern, compliance documents, test requirements, sample quantity and production volume complete the quotation.

Buyer FAQ

Zinc Coated Magnet FAQ

Can OSENC make zinc coated neodymium magnets to my drawing?

Yes. We manufacture custom zinc coated NdFeB magnets from drawings or approved samples. We lock the finished dimensions, tolerance, grade, magnetization direction, zinc finish, operating temperature and inspection requirements before production.

What zinc coating structure does OSENC use?

The standard project structures are NdFeB + Zn and NdFeB + Zn + Passivation when a conversion or passivation finish is specified. The exact finish is written into the approved specification.

How thick is zinc plating on a neodymium magnet?

For RFQ engineering, standard zinc plating uses a 7–15 μm total-thickness reference and zinc-chromate systems use a 15–30 μm reference. The controlled production value is the thickness stated on the approved drawing and inspection plan.

What temperature can a zinc coated N42 magnet handle?

For a standard zinc-coated N42 design, use 80°C as the continuous design limit. We move the magnetic material to M, H, SH, UH or EH grades when the operating temperature requires a higher limit.

Is standard zinc suitable for marine or permanent wet service?

No. We do not position standard zinc as a marine, permanent-immersion, strong-acid/alkali or high-abrasion coating. For severe wet, salt, chemical or wear exposure, we select a stronger protection system or encapsulation.

What is the MOQ for a custom zinc coated magnet?

MOQ is 1 piece for custom sampling. We support single-piece samples, small-batch validation and production orders.

What should I send for a zinc magnet quotation?

Send the drawing, finished dimensions and tolerances, magnet grade or target magnetic performance, magnetization direction, zinc finish or passivation callout, operating temperature, environmental exposure, compliance requirements, test requirements and quantity.
